Where can I hire a campervan?
We are located in Wakefield, which is just off the M1, Junction 40 and are ideally placed to explore all Yorkshire has to offer with its stunning coastline, peaceful countryside and charming towns and seaside resorts.
Campervans can be collected from our working garage at WF5 9NF. We will try to accommodate any requests such as a train station meeting point. We will even save your car for you free of charge. We are here to help so feel free to ask.
What time do I collect/drop off the campervan?
Our standard campervan collections are from 9:00am and our standard return is before 18:00 pm.
Please allow an 45 minutes for collection and return to enable us to provide you with a thorough vehicle handover and demonstration and vehicle check at the end of your trip. During the handover we will show you how the vehicle, its appliances and equipment work and complete the necessary documentation.
To assist a smooth vehicle return check, please ensure that the vehicle has a full tank of fuel, all contents of the vehicle as per the inventory are present, that all your belongings have been removed, and that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when you collected it. If you have hired the portable toilet as a trip extra, please ensure that the toilet cassette has been emptied and cleaned.
How much does it cost to hire a campervan and how do I pay?
Our campervan rental prices are seasonal and split into three tiers Low, Mid & High Season. Prices range from £80/day low season, £90/day mid-season, and £100/day high season. We have minimum 3-night rental period, and the maximum hire period is 30 nights. During peak season we may have to insist on 7 day a minimum dependent on demand.
Bookings are made via our website, where you can browse our vehicles, check availability, and go ahead and book. During the online booking process, you can add trip extras (such as BBQ, awning, bike rack, pets) and provide us with up to 2 named drivers. Alternatively, you can contact us and book. We will email you a booking confirmation setting out the specifics of your booking.
Payment can be made by card or bank transfer. We take a £150 non-refundable deposit to confirm and secure your booking. This will be documented in the booking confirmation email. The remaining balance is due 6 weeks (42 days) ahead of the date the hire commences, failing which we reserve the right to rent out the vehicle to someone else, and you will forfeit your booking deposit. We will email you to remind you to pay your balance.
What insurance is provided and are there any restrictions?
Insurance is provided only for the vehicle and for any trip extras that come with the vehicle. As standard the vehicle has comprehensive insurance for up to 2 named drivers, providing that the drivers have held a full UK or EU licence for a minimum of 2 years and are aged between 25 and 75. At the time of hire the drivers must hold a valid UK driving licence, which must be registered to a permanent UK address. All named drivers are required to meet additional specific insurance requirements.
There is an insurance excess of £1,000 and we take the equivalent as a Security Deposit at the commencement of your hire. The security deposit is payable at the time of collection and will be returned to you upon safe return of the Vehicle and any equipment or trip extras that came with the vehicle.
Further details about the Security Deposit and the named drivers insurance requirements can be found in our Self-Drive Hire Agreement.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, we are pet friendly at Wakefield Campervan Hire, and well-behaved pets are welcome; however, there will be a £25 fee per pet, per booking. We respectfully request that you do not leave pets alone in the campervans.
